The Circus
(2023)

Nothing bad ever happens in the quiet little town of Hope.  However, when the circus rolls in one misty morning in late October, everyone decides to go see what they have?  Even the Jorgensen family and their 10-year-old son Noah head on down to the circus big top, but when it is time to leave, he is nowhere to be found.  With the help of Sheriff Langley, his parents search the premises, but they never find him.  Now that it is closing time, they are forced to leave in hopes that he will come home.  Unbeknownst to everyone else, the circus is not what it seems.  Will they ever find him and all the other children that have gone missing from other towns?

Find out in The Circus, if what lies beneath the shiny exterior is something darker and far worse than you could have ever thought possible.

"If you like horror/novellas, you will love this. Not for the faint of heart, but not total splatterpunk either, a good middle ground."

Praise & Reviews

"Mixed with genuine thrills and suspense, The Circus holds a creepiness level of the highest disturbing standards. I was pleasantly surprised by the sub-plots of personal agendas and unique spitefulness provided by the towns characters. These ominous undoings are held only second to a certain little “Needful Things” town located in Castle Rock, Maine. Inhumane actions that Labelle’s circus brings to town cleverly distorts the storyline into an unputdownable (because it’s that good) novella."

"This book made me not want to ever step foot in a circus or a haunted house with a clown display. This was a fun, scary ride. It scared the heck out of me in the best ways possible! Well done, MD! ❤"

"This book THE LAKE is a real page turner; I couldn’t put it down once I started reading it. The pace is unrelenting, as we follow Laura, a mother hell bent on saving her daughter Anne, from the grips of an ancient sea monster that has awakened after 250 years. The twists and turns will leave the reader captivated from start to end. I’d certainly recommend this to anyone interested in the supernatural, mysterious sea creatures, and legends. With shadowy undertones, cold deep water, missing children, and a township embroiled in a coverup, these are all very intriguing facets to this wonderfully suspenseful and daunting story. This is definitely one to add to your collection!"

"I loved it! It comes complete with a creepy feeling as the monster slips and slides around in the dark underneath the town. I especially loved the way the author wrote. So descriptive that I felt as if I was right there."
